On Sunday 27 March, the summer schedule came into force at Katowice airport, with the launch of two new regular routes: Wizz Air to Abu Dhabi and Ryanair to Venice.
On Friday, April 1, the airline Wizz Air launched a connection from Pyrzowice to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The route is operated every Monday and Friday.
Artur Tomasik, President of the Management Board of Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze SA, the company managing the Pyrzowice airport, said: “”The Pyrzowice – Abu Dhabi connection is not only an opportunity to reach the United Arab Emirates quickly. Individual travel arrangements are becoming increasingly popular, and this route allows you to take advantage of Wizz Air‘s extensive, original network of Asian and African routes from its Middle Eastern base.”
In Pyrzowice, a connection to Venice’s main airport named after Marco Polo has also debuted. Flights from Katowice Airport to Venice are operated by Ryanair and take place three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Eleven routes to Italy are available from Pyrzowice in the “Summer 2022” schedule. Six of them (Alghero, Bologna, Catania, Milan-Bergamo, Trapani, Venice) are operated by Ryanair. Five routes to this country (Alghero, Catania, Milan-Bergamo, Naples, Rome-Ciampino) are offered by Wizz Air.
Artur Tomasik added: “For years Italy has been one of the top countries in regular traffic departing from Katowice Airport. In record 2019, which was the last year before the coronavirus pandemic crisis, we recorded 220 thousand on scheduled destinations to Italy. In March this year, Italy was the third most popular country in the segment of scheduled flights.”
In the “Summer 2022” schedule from the Fryderyk Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Abu Dhabi will be served every day of the year. Wojciech Korfanty Airport offers 111 regular and charter routes to 90 airports located in 30 countries.
