The Minister of Sport and Tourism, Kamil Bortniczuk handed today Rafał Szmytke the nomination for the President of the Polish Tourist Organization.
Recall that during its meeting on April 8, 2022, the PTO Council recommended Rafał Szmytke, selected in the competition for the PTO president by the chapter, to the minister. The jury found him to be the most suitable of the candidates who took part in the contest. The PTO board debated 14 and voted unanimously to recommend. Today’s nomination of Rafał Szmytke for the post was only a formality.
Rafał Szmytke was the PTO president for 10 years from 2006. On 29 January 2016, the then Minister of Sport and Tourism Witold Bańka dismissed him from the post of PTO president. His successor was Wojciech Fedyk. Then, the organization which is responsible for the tourist promotion of Poland was headed by: Marek Olszewski, Robert Andrzejczyk and Rafał Szlachta. The average employment on the position of the president is therefore 1.5 years (one more person selected in the competition for the president resigned one day before the meeting with the PTO Council).
Rafał Szmytke is currently a vice-rector of the Vistula University of Tourism and Hotel Management.
